For many people seeking abortion care, financing their abortion is a huge barrier. We offer financial assistance at 4 partner clinics in Arizona, and out-of-state clinics when possible.
What clinics do you partner with?
The Arizona clinics we partner with are:
Choices Women’s Center (Tucson)
Family Planning Associates (Phoenix)
Camelback Family Planning (Phoenix)
Desert Star Family Planning (Phoenix)
How do I get help?
If you need help paying for an abortion at one of our partner clinics, follow the steps below or text us as 520-235-6934. We can help with some of the cost of your abortion based on the total cost of your abortion and your financial need. We do our best to respond to every text within 24 hours, but the sooner you text us the better.
What if my appointment is at a different clinic?
If you are getting an abortion at another clinic in AZ, we are unable to offer financial assistance to cover the cost of your abortion. We made the difficult decision to only work with the 4 independent clinics in Arizona because we have limited resources and are facing a shortage of funding. If you are getting an abortion at a clinic not on this list, we are still here for you for logistical support, emotional support, and support with judicial bypass for minors. You can text us for any support you may need other than your clinic bill.
What are the steps to fund my abortion?
Step 1 - Make an appointment at one of our partner clinics for your ultrasound/consultation. Clinic info can be found here.
This appointment costs $80-100 and is taken out of the total cost of your abortion. If you need help with this fee, let us know when you text. Some clinics also accept some insurance plans for the consultation, so be sure to ask your clinic. At your ultrasound/consultation, the clinic will tell you how much your abortion will cost, based on how many weeks pregnant you are and what type of abortion you will be having. At the clinic, tell them that you need financial assistance as some clinics have their own financial assistance available.
Step 2 - Text us at 520-235-6934
We will ask you some basic information and If we are able to offer funding, we will send it directly to the clinic.
Step 3 - Contact other funds, if needed
If you still have a remaining balance, call The Abortion Fund of Arizona at 602-327-5166. You will need to leave a message and a volunteer will return your call in 24-48 hours.
If you are Indigenous/Native American and need help paying for your abortion, contact Indigenous Women Rising to see if you qualify for additional funding.
If you are traveling out of state for your abortion, there are several other organizations that may be able to help with travel costs, and we may be able to connect you to other services in other states, so please get in touch!
Currently, state and federal laws prohibit Medicaid (AHCCCS) from paying for abortion services. Some private insurance companies may cover some services under some circumstances, so make sure to ask at the clinic.
How much does an abortion cost?
The price of an abortion depends on gestational age (how many weeks of pregnancy), type of abortion (medication or surgical) and other individual health factors. Prices are slightly different at each clinic, and many clinics list prices on their websites. In Arizona, you can expect the cost of a medication abortion to be $700-$860 (up to 11 weeks). Surgical/in-clinic abortions start at around $700 (at 12 weeks) and increases with each week of pregnancy, usually by about $100. The price goes up weekly and can be as much as $2,500 at 23 weeks 6 days gestation.
The price of the initial ultrasound/consultation appointment is $80-$100 and is often included in the full price of an abortion.
